A funny vintage jean ad for jeans by Chuck Norris:
I think we are lucky that these days almost all jeans, especially women’s jeans, have stretch. Jeans in the past used to be incredibly rigid and limiting.
To this day, my mother in law insists that she can’t wear jeans because they are in fact uncomfortable. Now, don’t get me wrong – of course sweats are more comfortable than jeans, but at what price style-wise?
I think denim fabrics these days are far more forgiving than they used to be. I can spend the entire day wearing jeans and I feel great. They don’t cut into me and they don’t make me feel limited in any way.
Of course, it all depends on the type of jeans. Too-tight jeans are never a good idea – they are uncomfortable and they don’t look very good. But if you choose a more reasonable cut, such as boot cut jeans in a fabric that has some stretch, they are going to be stylish – and comfortable.
