I don’t really get boyfriend jeans.
They’re definitely women’s jeans, even though they are not cut for a woman’s curves. More accurately, they are cut to hide a woman’s curves. They tend to be slouchy, if you know what I mean.
Now, like many other jean looks and styles, you can look FABULOUS in boyfriend jeans IF you are skinny.
Yawn.
You can look fabulous in anything if you are skinny, it seems.
However, if you are not the skinny type, boyfriend jeans might pose a bit of a problem. Boyfriend jeans have a loose fit, a low rise, and cuffed hems. The loose fit is very comfortable (men always dress in comfier clothes than women, don’t they?) but if you’re not very thin, the extra fabric could make it look bulky and add inches. I’m guessing this is NOT the look you’re after, right?
In my quest for the ultimate pair of women’s jeans, I have tried several pairs of boyfriend jeans. I wasn’t too impressed. Basically, they made me look like I weigh at least five pounds more than I do.
Some say the baggy look is sexy. I say, if you can pull it off, more power to you. Me? I’m staying away from boyfriend jeans.
